Swoop FAQ

The design evolutions that finally brought us the DuneBoy Swoop are pretty interesting. It all started with the FlipSideBoy.

FlipSideBoy

If you thought the triangle pattern on the DuneBoy Swoop looks somewhat similar to the FlipSideBoy, then you'd be right. This design lineage all started when Jason Tierney introduced the FlipSideBoy on Nov 3, 2023:

One side in, one side out! Inspired by a video that Sean Cusson made, sharing how he enjoyed some mix and match fidget action. This one’s for you Good Sir!

DuneBoy

The DuneBoy was later created with inspirations from the FlipSideBoy. On Jul 31, 2024, Jason Tierney introduced the DuneBoy saying:

I have always had a fondness for a design I previously offered known as the FlipSideBoy. After some reimagining, adjustments, improved methods of execution, and a new name.

DuneBoy Swoop

Also known as the "Swoop" for short. This design came about from the adjustments Jason Tierney and John Biel were testing with the metal version of the slider.

Jason Tierney talked about the DuneBoy Swoop in a video on Aug 16, 2024:

How is the Swoop different from the DuneBoy?

The Swoop's difference with the DuneBoy is that the Swoop has the extra recessed thumb area.

Kory Sean has a very nice Facebook post for this. The image below is the best of his photos that clearly shows the difference.
